Review: 7. Cold Days by Jim Butcher…

I couldn’t wait to find out what Jim Butcher has in store for poor Harry next — and now I get to find out in Cold Days!

cold daysdrey’s thoughts:

The Winter Knight. For Queen Mab. Poor, poor, Harry. And Mab’s version of “training” for his new position? Ugh.

Of course, Mab has her first task target for Harry. And to make up for the fact that all of his posse are in Chicago, and he’s not (yet) — Harry gets a couple of new sidekicks (though one will HATE to be called a sidekick!).

All of this fae crap stuff means Harry has new rules of engagement to figure out, all while avoiding his enemies — the ones he’s collected over the years, and the ones who’re enemies because of his new role. Since the latter are a tad more difficult to identify than the former, Harry decides to lay low and not reveal his not-dead state to his friends and family. But you know how the best of intentions go, right?

Anyway. Harry’s alive. He’s got a job to do. With a deadline. And bad guys crawling out of the woodwork taking potshots at him. Then, as if all of that wasn’t enough, there’s another threat Harry’s introduced to. One with very dire consequences for everyone if they win.

I loved Cold Days. The plot is convoluted, but reveals a lot more about Harry’s world. The story flows, the characters are entertaining, and the treachery multiplies like rabbits. The last few books in this series are as exciting as the first few that made me a fan, and I’m anxiously waiting for more…

    Hey drey,
The problem with the last book was I didn’t like ghost Harry. So I am being very cautious with the new book. I am still enjoying Jane Yellowrock so no big Harry hurry. Lol!!! See ya later my good friend.

      Hey Steve!

I don’t know that anyone really liked ghost Harry – but I thought Butcher did a great job with that story. This one’s not ghostly anymore lol, and full of stuff. I actually felt really bad for Harry – all the stuff that hit him in the last few books were really consequences of actions he had to take, through no fault of his own. Poor guy!

I’m waiting for more Jane!!! Some days it’s such a pain to read so fast! :)
