Review: 155. Fate’s Edge by Ilona Andrews…

I can’t believe I’m so late to pick up Ilona Andrews’ Fate’s Edge. Then again, my TBR pile is quite totteringly high…

fate's edgedrey’s thoughts:

Why wouldn’t everyone want to read Fate’s Edge? There’s action! Danger! Romance! A heroine who’s alone because her family’s not worth the trouble. A hero with a degenerate background and super-duper powers. A heist, a double-cross, and a ton of people (can I even call them “people”?) chasing after the perps.

Which puts a huge target on your back, if you’re the thief in question…

There’re also teenagers questioning their place in the world, crazy magic-vs-science between the worlds, and muddled family dynamics. Phew.

The story itself is interesting and entertaining, as is the resulting manhunt and the teens’ angst. What I didn’t love as much as I expected to was the romance itself. I loved Audrey, and how she sticks up for her principles. Wish she hadn’t given in to her father that last time, but then we wouldn’t have a story. I even actually like Kaldar, though more for the care he showed the kids than for anything he exhibited. His constant see-sawing between believing Audrey’s story and not, got a little annoying. And the whole I-want-to-believe-you-because-you’re-hot thing? So does not work for me.

BUT the story overall is fun, so it’s worth checking out, especially if you picked it up at the library like I did.

drey’s rating: Pick it up!
